Misfitting Things is a design project exploring objects, graphics and visual ideas that sit slightly outside their expected place.

Intro
Misfitting Things began as an exploration of how visual ideas can take shape across formats—from images and objects to products and systems.
What started as sketch-based experimentation developed into a design practice focused on translating concepts into coherent systems, combining visual storytelling, product design, and brand building.
The challenge
How might visual ideas move beyond isolated outputs and become part of a coherent system—one that can exist across objects, formats, and contexts?
The project explored how to create a distinct visual language that could translate across products, communication, and physical experiences.
Approach
The work was driven by an iterative and hands-on design process:
→ Developing concepts through sketching, making, and visual experimentation
→ Testing how ideas translate across objects, graphics, and formats
→ Building a cohesive visual language across products, packaging, and communication
→ Translating concepts into production through sourcing, manufacturing, and distribution

The process moved continuously between idea, material, and context—balancing intuition with structured development.
Outcome
Misfitting Things evolved into a fully realised design brand, including a collection of products, a distinct visual identity, and a platform for ongoing concept development.
The project moved from early exploration to a coherent system—where objects, graphics, and narratives were developed as part of a shared visual language across formats.
Bringing the work into the world required translating concepts into production-ready outcomes, including material development, manufacturing, pricing, and distribution.
The project demonstrates how concepts can be developed not only as ideas, but as systems that can exist, scale, and operate in a real-world context.
The brand is now distributed internationally through selected partners and platforms - including collaborations with international retailers such as Paper Collective.
Role
I founded and led the project, working across concept development, visual direction, product design, and execution.
This included building the brand, developing products, shaping the visual language, and managing the process from idea to final outcome.
